Local Boys Make Good In NFL

October 29, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A couple of Missouri collegiate football stars had big days in the NFL on Sunday. Missouri Southern product Rod Smith had six catches for 159 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown, to help lead the Denver Broncos past the New England Patriots 31-20. Missouri product Justin Smith did not make a tackle on Sunday, but he did make a big defensive play by intercepting Detroit quarterback Charlie Batch and returning it 21 yards. The pick helped the Cincinnati Bengals to a 31-27 win over winless Detroit. The interception was the first of the season for Smith and the first of his seven-game career.
