Ongoing research at the Center for Vaccine Development at St. Louis University School of Medicine has taken on greater significance since the terrorist attacks a month ago. Last year, researchers began to test the remaining stock of smallpox vaccine. There hasn’t been a need for the vaccine since 1979 when the disease was officially declared eradicated. Still, a limited supply of Drydax has been kept at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
