Three Members of Congress from Missouri visit “Ground Zero.” The ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee was among the group visiting the site of the World Trade Center ruins. West-central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton was awed by what he saw and was not prepared for it. Skelton said, “I truly saw the face of evil. Words are inadequate to describe the carnage that I saw.” Also taking part in the tour of the devastation was House Democrat Leader Richard Gephardt of St. Louis and Congresswoman Karen McCarthy of Kansas City.
