Prison Guards Petition To Dump Their Union

September 25, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

At least one group of state employees wants nothing to do with Governor Bob Holden’s order giving them more collective bargaining rights. In fact, prison guards and others who are corrections officers have been signing petitions asking for an election to de-certify the Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees as their bargaining agent. The guards say the executive order does more for unions than it does for state workers. They would like to see the Corrections Officers Association becoming a bargaining agent, replacing their current union.
