Both criminal and civil actions are being taken against northwest Missouri cattle buyer George Young, accused of defrauding clients of as much as $100-million. Attorney General Jay Nixon acknowledges this is a complex case. Authorities have been unable to locate anywhere near the 200,000 head of cattle George Young of Grant City was to be fattening for investors. The case involves people from throughout the Midwest as well as banks which had extended large lines of credit for clients of Young. Nixon is working closely with the attorneys general of Nebraska and Wyoming, who are heavily involved in the case, along with federal officials.
