Lawsuit Filed Against Executive Order

September 24, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A coalition of lawmakers, state workers, and business groups has filed a lawsuit challenging the Constitutionality of Governor Bob Holden’s executive order giving some state employees the right to unionize. The suit claims the executive order exceeded constitutional authority by circumventing the Legislature. It alleges the action violated Missouri’s separation of powers doctrine. Among the lawmakers leading the charge are Senate Leader Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau and State Representative Quincy Troupe of St. Louis.
