State Workers Eating Out At Taxpayer Expense

September 17, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

State Auditor Claire McCaskill has released an audit of state-agency provided food expenditures. And, it shows there are too many cases in which state workers are purchasing food which is paid for by taxpayers. McCaskill says all too often lunch meetings are held with the state picking up the tab for the food. She says this is wrong, and insists the state must be reimbursed for such expenditures. McCaskill says workers should only be given food allowances when they travel away from their home offices.
