It was one of those nights at Busch Stadium on Wednesday. In arguably the wildest game of the season for the Cardinals – they held off San Diego 16-14. This one featured a nine-run second inning, seven home runs, ten pitchers, the Cardinals scoring 16 runs while leaving just one runner on base, 30 combined hits, a two-run strikeout and Ryan Klesko going 5-5, with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and five runs batted in in defeat. Gene Stechshulte (1-4) allowed just one run in 1 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win.
