Cardinals Red-Hot Streak Continues

August 20, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Matt Morris (16-7) pitched seven shut-out innings to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to their 11th straight victory on Sunday, 9-0 over the Philadelphia Phillies. Mark McGwire led the assault at the plate for St. Louis, going 3-3 with four runs batted in. The Cardinals are now just 2 1/2 games out of first in the National League Central. They trail second-place Chicago by just a half-game. This 11-game winnings streak is the Cardinals longest since a 12-gamer back in 1982.
