Cardinals Hammer Reds Again

August 17, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Jim Edmonds’ three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth-inning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a lead they would never relinquish as they beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-3. The victory is the Cardinals eighth straight and it moves them to within 3 1/2 games of first-place in the National League Central. Edmonds blast gave the Cardinals a 4-2 lead in the sixth and it made a winner out of Dustin Hermanson. Hermanson pitched six strong innings to beat the Reds for the first time in nine career decisions.
