Cardinals lose 6-5 in 11

St. Louis Cardinals, The Cardinals snatched defeat from the jaws of victory last night in Montreal, losing 6-5 in 11 innings. Down a run heading to the ninth, the Cardinals rallied for three to take a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth. But recently deposed closer Dave Veres gave up a two-run homer to Geoff Blum and the game was tied.Cardinal Luther Hackman wriggled out of a two-on, no-out jam in the 10th, but Michael Barrett doubled off Hackman in the 11th to drive in the winning run.The two clubs hook up again tonight.
