Democrats are basking in the afterglow of this win, this week, in a special House election in northern Missouri’s 3rd Legislative District – a district previously held by the Republicans. They look at this week’s performance as an indication the party is appealing to rural Missourians. Not surprisingly, the Republicans don’t agree. They claim the embracing of conservative issues is the reason for the Democrats’ good showing this week. Both parties are looking forward to next year’s House and Senate elections as well as two statewide votes – for U.S. Senator and for State Auditor.
