Cal Ripken’s two-run double capped a five-run fifth inning as the Baltimore Orioles rallied for a 9-6 win over the Kansas City Royals on Monday. The Royals actually led 3-0 heading into that fifth inning, but then the Orioles batted around and knocked Chris George (0-3) out of the game in the process. The rookie lefthander allowed all five runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. Jason Johnson went 5 2/3 innings for the O’s to earn the win.
