Second Group Of Workers Moves Toward Collective Bargaining

First it was probation officers and employment security workers. Now, healthcare professionals for the state are asking for an election to decide on whether they should become unionized. The Service Employees International Union wants to represent both groups. The workers have filed for a union election to decide whether the Union should have the right to represent them. Governor Bob Holden issued an executive order giving state workers the right to bargain collectively. But an election is needed to determine whether a majority of workers in a given field wants to be unionized.
