Royals Beat Sox in Ten

August 1, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Brent Mayne’s RBI single in the top of the tenth inning knocked in the go-ahead run as the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday 2-1. Mayne’s knock made a winner out of Paul Byrd (3-4) who gave the Royals a brilliant effort. The righthander went nine innings, allowing just a run on five hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out five. The Royals are now 4-3 on this twelve-game road trip.
