A group of state lawmakers is calling on Governor Holden to reconsider proposed budget cuts to the Department of Social Services. The Governor’s proposal calls for an 18 percent cut in the Department’s budget. The group says the Division of Family Services’ ability to serve children in need will be harmed with a cut that large. The group will meet with the Governor in the coming days to discuss options. It’s hoping to convince him to rethink at least some of the reductions.
