The possibility of another energy crisis has many people looking at alternative forms of energy. The people running the nuclear power plant in Callaway County, in central Missouri, are happy to get a chance to talk up the benefits of nuclear energy. The biggest problems with nuclear energy are the perceived dangers assoiated with it. But AmerenUE, which operates the Callaway plant, says the fears are unfounded. It says the worst thing that could happen would be something similar to what happened at Three Mile Island in 1979 – a serious situation … but no tragedy. The Callaway facility is Missouri’s only nuclear power plant and is among the top fifteen performing plants in the world.
