The Kansas City Royals traded outfielder Jermaine Dye to Colorado yesterday for shortstop Neifi Perez. The Rockies then turn around and send Dye to Oakland for prospects. The 26-year old Perez is hitting .298 this season with seven home runs and 47 runs batted in. He is expected to become the everyday shortstop in Kansas City after the trading deadline. Rey Sanchez is currently entrenched at that position, but he now could be traded or moved to second base.
