Rey Sanchez snapped a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Kansas City Royals a 5-4 win over the Oakland A’s. Sanchez’ hit became necessary after Roberto Hernandez allowed a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning. Despite the strugles, Hernandez (3-3) ends up as the winner last night. His struggles cost Jeff Suppan a victory. Suppan allowed just two runs on six hits in 7 2/3 innings of work. He walked just one while striking out five. Sanchez finished the night 4-5 at the plate, his final RBI was his third of the game. First baseman mike Sweeney went 2-4 with a home run (22) on his 28th birthday.
