Governor Bob Holden says he will have a decision on Thursday on legislation dealing with a proposed arena for the University of Missouri at Columbia. An anonymous donor has pledged $25-million, but that money will only be available if the Governor signs off on legislation allowing the state to issue $35-million in bonds to finance the new arena. The Governor has given no indication whether he will sign the legislation or veto it. As for Kansas City’s requests for money to spruce up existing facilities in the Harry S Truman Sports Complex, Holden says he will consider the requests, provided there are other economic benefits for the city and the Kansas City area.
