New Law Aims To Speed Up Adoptions

July 9, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A new law could speed up adoptions for thousands of children in Missouri. Many foster children in this state are adopted by their foster parents. But the law requires those parents to wait six months after filing for adoption before it can be granted. A new law, just signed by Governor Holden, waives that sixty-day waiting period. The Division of Family Services says about sixty percent of the children who are adopted in this state are adopted by their foster parents.
