Edgar Renteria was the hero on Sunday as he knocked in the winning run with a 9th-inning RBI single off of John Rocker, leading the St. Louis Cardinals past the Cleveland Indians 4-3. Mike Timlin (3-4) picks up the win for the Cardinals with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, he struck out two. Renteria finished the afternoon with three hits and a stolen base. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 43-43 as they head into the Al-Star Break. St. Louis is eight games out of first place in the National League Central behind the Chicago Cubs.
