Royals Rally For Stirring Win

June 28, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Endy Chavez snapped an 0-21 streak at the plate with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Kansas City Royals a 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. The lead changed hands four times over the final two and a half innings with the Royals scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth to rally for the win. Roberto Hernandez (2-2) picks up the win, despite the fact he gave up two runs in the top of the ninth to blow the save opportunity. Carlos Beltran went 4-4 at the plate with a home run and two runs scored in the win. The two teams wrap-up their three game series this afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
