NBA Draft Means Good Things for Woods, Jeffers

June 28, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The NBA Draft was last night and for the first time since 1998 a St. Louis Billiken heard his name called. Maurice Jeffers became the first SLU product since Larry Hughes to be selected on draft day as he was taken in the second round, 55th overall by the Sacramento Kings. Jeffers averaged 16 points and six rebounds a game as a senior last season. St. Louis native Loren Woods also heard his nme called last night. The University of Arizona center was chosen 45th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Before the draft, rumors swirled that Missouri product Keyon Dooling would be part of a trade which would send him from the L.A. Clippers to New Jersey, but that deal never materialized.
