US Supreme Court Decision On Missouri Party Financing Law Expected Today

June 27, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The United States Supreme Court will decide today whether to consider a challenge to Missouri’s laws limiting the money flowing into political campaigns. The Court has already upheld a Colorado law, much like Missouri’s, that limits the money political parties can give to candidates. The justices meet in conference today to decide whether to hear arguments on the Missouri law. Missouri’s law was enacted by critics of the old system. They say donors could make big secret donations to candidates by funnelling them through the political parties.
