Mayne Returns and Leads Royals to Win

June 27, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Playing his first game in a Royals uniform since 1995, catcher Brent Mayne went 3-4 with four runs batted in as Kansas City routed Detroit 12-5. This is obviously Mayne’s second tour of duty in K.C., he had been acquired in Sunday’s trade with Colorado. Mayne knocked in a run with an RBI single in the second and then blew the game open in the third with a three-run double. Raul Ibanez and Carlos Beltran each added three RBI to the cause. Dan Reichert (7-6) was the beneficiary of all this offense on the hill, as he allowed five runs on five hits in seven innings of work.
