The Kansas City Royals were off on Monday but they were busy tinkering with the roster. The Royals recalled Jeff Austin from Triple-A Omaha to take the place of Mac Suzuki who was dealt to Colorado over the weekend. Austin was 2-7 with a 7.76 ERA with the Golden Spikes, but he had been very effective since being moved from the rotation to the bullpen. Austin was Kansas City’s #1 pick back in 1998. He should be in uniform tonight as the Royals open a thre-game series in Detroit against the Tigers.
