Heat exhaustion strikes when people have been exposed to high temperatures to the point they lose excessive amounts of water. Symptoms include heavy perspiring, turning pale, muscle cramps, dizziness, and even vomiting. The Missouri Department of Health says there are three categories of people most susceptible to heat exhaustion and stroke: the very young, the very old, and the chroically ill. Anyone believed to be suffering from heat-related problems is advised to seek medical attention immediately.
