Missouri Agriculture Department officials are trying to make sure chronic wasting disease stays out of the state. It’s a disease that afflicts deer and elk, alco known as cervid animals, and causes fatal degeneration of the brain in those animals. It is related to mad cow disease but is not dangerous to humans and livestock.
