Today is Juneteenth, the anniversary of the freeing of slaves in Texas in 1865. It’s become a date of significance for blacks throughout the country. The NAACP in Missouri marks this day by reflecting on the progress made by blacks in the state. It sees opportunities, especially for young people, but it believes there is still a long way to go.
