Conference Targets Downtown Development

June 9, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Representatives from communities throughout the state will be in Jefferson City Monday and Tuesday to discuss their downtown neighborhood and commercial districts. Organizers of the conference, organized by the Department of Economic Development’s Main Street Program, hope to make it clear to those attending that downtown areas of Missouri’s cities and towns are very important parts of communities. The Program is working to ensure downtown districts remain essential elements to their sense of community, their cultural heritage, and to the state’s economy.
