Plea For Opening Of Lewis County Casino To Be Put On Hold

June 4, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

A heated feud between some city officials in LaGrange and some of Lewis County’s law enforcement officials leads to a suggestion that a casino scheduled to open in the middle of next month is kept from opening. Lewis County in northeast Missouri has about ten-thousand people. LaGrange has about 1,100 of them. The Mark Twain Casino expects to draw 600,000 people a year. The County has told the state Gaming Commission the casino should not be allowed to open unless public safety requirements are met.
