Cardinals Rally for Win Over Reds

June 4, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Six Cardinals relievers combined to shut out the Cincinnati Reds for the game’s final six innings as St. Louis picked up a 4-3 win on Sunday. Mike Matheny hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and then doubled and scored the go-ahead tally in the 7th. Give the win to Mike Timlin, he’s 2-2. Dave Veres pitched the ninth to earn his eighth save of the season. The Cardinals are now 31-24 on the season and they now sit 2 1/2 games out of first in the N.L. Central.
