Andy Benes was torched for nine runs on ten hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work as the St. Louis Cardinals were pasted by Milwaukee 11-1 on Wednesday in a game which was halted after five innings because of rain. Benes started the game by striking out the side in the first inning on just ten pitches, but it was all downhill after that. The righthander falls to 3-4 on the season. Jeffrey Hammonds hit a pair of home runs to lead the Brewers attack. J.D. Drew knocked in the only run of the game for St. Louis with a first inning single. The two teams wrap up their four-game series tonight at 7:10 p.m.
