Officials with IBP, the nation’s largest meatpacker, have announced they will limit the amount of livestock they company buys from Missouri producers. The company says some provisions in the state’s Livestock Marketing Law are confusing and IBP will avoid Missouri livestock so they don’t run afoul of the law. But Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon says IBP’s actions now might be an indication that special deals had been cut in the past. But those days, he says, are over.
