Kerry Robinson’s two-run single in the fifth inning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 4-3 lead and helped lead the way to an eventual 7-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Robinson, a product of Hazelwood East and SEMO, was making his first Major League start and his hit helped make a winner of Mike Matthews a winner. The lefthander allowed just three runs on three hits in six innings of work to improve to 2-0 on the season. J.D. Drew started the scoring off in the first inning with a two-run home run off Brewer starter Ben Sheets. Richie Sexson was the hero at the plate for Milwaukee, he hit a pair of home runs and knocked in three in a losing effort.
