Missouri has received a poor grade – a D+ – on the Natonal Safety council’s nationwide seat belt report card. The report looked at several factors, including seat belt use and strength of state laws. Missouri received a failing grade for laws on the books. The current law makes not wearing a seat belt a secondary offense and subject to a small fine. As far as use is concerned, only about two-thirds of all Missourians buckle-up.
