Jason Varitek homered three times and knocked in seven runs leading the Boston Red Sox past the Kansas City Royals 10-3 on Sunday. Varitek went deep in the second, fourth and eighth innings. His first two homers came off loser Brian Meadows (1-5), the third came off Mac Suzuki. Meadows lasted only 3 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits. Frank Castillo picked up the win for Boston, he surrendered just an unearned run in six innings of work. The Red Sox hit five home runs all totaled in the win.
