Blunt And Nixon Join Forces To Fight Securities Fraud

May 21, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Secretary of State Matt Blunt and Attorney General Jay Nixon have joined forces to prosecute a former Kansas City stockbroker on 16 counts of felony securities fraud. Rodney Belzer is alleged to have defrauded seven of his customers out of $775,000. What makes this a unique event is the fact the two offices have not worked together in the past. But Blunt says it only makes sense to have the Secretary of State’s office use its investigative expertise to deal with fraud … and have the Attorney General’s Office use its authority to prosecute such cases.
