Anyone planning on hitting the lake with a boat or jet ski can save a few dollars on the cost of filling up. Seventeen cents of every gallon of gasoline sold is a tax which is targeted for highway improvements. But the Director of the Department of Revenue, Carol Fischer, says that tax is not supposed to be collected on purchases of gas for boats and other water recreation. Fischer says many people are not aware that such gasoline purchases are gas tax exempt.
