Ankiel Wild in Triple-A Debut

May 16, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Rick Ankiel’s first start of the season for the Memphis Redbirds was very comparable to the work he put together for the St. Louis Cardinals. Last night for the Memphis Redbirds, Ankiel walked six and threw four wild pitches in three-plus innings of work. In all, eight of Ankiel’s pitches reached the backstop. He did not get the loss last night. Despite the struggles of their starting pitcher, the Redbirds thumped Oklahoma 17-6.
