Brian Meadows pitched 6 2/3 innings of strong baseball and the Royals scored in seven of nine innings en route to an 8-3 win over the Cleveland Indians. The victory is the first of 2001 for Meadows and it also snaps Cleveland’s ten-game winning streak. Meadows (1-4) allowed just two earned runs on five hits while on the hill. Jason Grimsley followed with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. At the plate, Mike Sweeney and Joe Randa led the way with three hits each, Sweeney scored three times. Kansas City wins for the first time in six tries with the Tribe.
