The task force set up by the Missouri Public Service Commission to look into the spike in natural gas prices is hearing a lot of complaints as it travels through the state. Problems associated with budget billing – charging customers a set amount each month based on annual gas use – highlighted a task force meeting in Jefferson City. AmerenUE customers complain the rates rise as the price rises, so the budgeting does not work. The gas company says colder than expected weather was primarily to blame for the sharp increases. The task force is halfway through its tour of six cities in all regions of the state.
