The St. Louis Cardinals won their third straight game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-2 on Wednesday. Dustin Hermanson allowed just the two runs on five hits in six innings of work to improve to 3-1 on the season. Mike Timlin and Dave Veres retired the final nine Pirates in order to close the door. Ray Lankford led a ten-hit attack for St. Louis with a home run and three runs batted in. Placido Polanco added three hits to the cause. The Cardinals have won three straight over the Pirates in this series, outscoring the Buccos 21-4 in the process. The series wrps up this afternoon at 12:10 as Rick Ankiel takes the hill for the Cards.
