Andy Benes allowed just two hits and a run in six innings of work, leading the St. Louis Cardinals past the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-2 last night. Benes walked two and struck out four in evening his record at 2-2. The Cardinals put this one to bed early, scoring six times in the first of losing pitcher Jimmy Anderson. J. D. Drew capped the uprising with a three-run home run. That was his 11th dinger of the season. Ray Lankford added his 8th home run of the campaign in the eighth inning. Cardinals are now 16-15 on the season and they will continue their series with the Pirates tonight behind Dustin Hermanson.
