Bears Rally Past Tigers in Ozark

May 9, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Ben Margalski and Ryan Howard smacked back-to-back home runs, keying a four run eighth inning and leading the Southwest Missouri State Bears past Missouri 5-3 last night. Margalski’s two-run shot off loser Shaun Marcum tied the game at three. Howard then followed with his bomb to dead center off Marcum to give the Bears a lead they would never relinquish. Derek Eddie allowed an unearned run in two innings of relief to earn the win for SMS. Bob Zimmerman struck out two in the ninth to pick up the save. The game featured 33 strikeouts, including 11 by SMS starter Andrew Jefferson.
