May 8, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

Matt Morris pitched his first shutout since September of 1998, holding the Pittsburgh Pirates to four hits, leading the Cardinals to a 7-0 win. Morris walked just one batter and struck out six in improving to 4-2 on the season. Albert Pujols, J.D. Drew and Ray Lankford all went deep for the Cards in the win, which improved their record to 15-15 on the season. The Cardinals and Pirates continue their four-game series tonight at Busch. Andy Benes gets the call for the Cardinals, he’s 1-2.
