The Washington Post has reported Pentagon officials will abandon the idea of fighting two major wars at the same time. The plan has been the cornerstone of the military’s strategy for the last decade, determining manning and weapons levels needed for the job. The Secretary of Defense is expected to unveil a new plan to the President this week. West-central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, is worried about the change. He says the Secretary of Defense should consult with military people and members of the Committee. He expects to speak to the Secretary about the proposed strategy change, but not until next month.
