After watching the Florida Marlins force extra-innings with a Cliff Floyd home run in the bottom of the ninth, the St. Louis Cardinals got a two-run home run from Ray Lankford in the top of the 11th inning to beat the Marlins 4-2. Lankford’s dinger came off Florida closer Antonio Alfonseca who takes the loss to fall to 1-2. Steve Kline twirled 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win, improving to 1-1. Matt Morris was brilliant in a no-decision, the righthander went 8 innings striking out eleven. He did start the 9th but left after allowing Floyd’s game-tying homer and back-to-back singles. Cardinals play the rubber game of this series tonight at 6:05 p.m.
