Governor Bob Holden is keeping his options open in discussions that might lead to the state helping the St. Louis Cardinals build a new downtown ballpark. Holden isn’t saying much about his recent discussions with St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, other than to reitterate his claim that he will not do anything that is not in the best interests of all Missourians. State lawmakers are mulling over the idea of the baseball stadium development project, which the Cardinals say is needed if the team is to remain competetive.
